On 16 February 2026, the ICSO team cooperation with Ka Tieng Village authorities to coordinate and support the committee and members of Indigenous Community of KaTieng Village, Lbang 2 Commune, Lumphat District, Ratanakiri Province, in an inspection of trees planted within the community’s protected forest area. A total of 17 people participated in the activity, including one woman. Findings indicate that approximately 75% of the planted trees have survived.
This monitoring and protection activity aims to conserve natural resources and expand forest cover through community-led reforestation. The exercise supported local capacity for forest stewardship, verified survival rates of recent plantings, and reinforced community commitment to long-term forest protection and restoration efforts. Recommendations from the inspection include continued regular monitoring, targeted protection of surviving trees from grazing and fire, and additional community awareness and involvement to improve future survival rates of the trees.
